Early Years and Primary School Spring Festival Shows
On February 6th, students from Early Years to Year 6 at Léman School welcomed the Chinese new Year of the Horse through two vibrant performances. The younger children engaged the audience with cheerful renditions of classical poems and festive idioms, naturally blending cultural learning with playful expression.
Older students showcased a diverse range of talents, from Chinese dance and Latin rumba to German singing and Korean mask performances, reflecting our multicultural environment. The event concluded with an energetic finale, embodying our school's commitment to nurturing both cultural heritage and creative confidence.
Secondary Chinese New Year Gathering
This year’s Secondary Chinese New Year Celebration was equally vibrant and full of cultural diversity. Under the guidance of language teachers, students showcased the charm of different cultures through a German song “If I Were a Little Bird,” a French King Cake presentation, and an energetic Taekwondo performance.
Students from the Chinese LA classes impressed the audience with the dance “Chinese Kung Fu Fan” and the drum performance “New Year Greetings.” The Year 7 Chinese Literature class delivered an expressive recitation of “Bring in the Wine,” capturing both Li Bai’s sorrow and boldness. Year 11 and Year 12 students presented the short drama “Missing You, Teleporting Instantly,” highlighting differences between northern and southern New Year traditions. A Year 10 student performed the erhu solo “Horse Racing,” full of energy and spirit, while Year 11 students brought a refreshing touch of early spring with their four-hand piano piece “Flower Day.” The celebration concluded with the school band performing “Friends Like You,” accompanied by a student-produced campus friendship video. With confident hosts and enthusiastic audience participation, the Secondary celebration was filled with warmth, joy, and the true spirit of the New Year.
Whole-School Temple Fair
Bang! Clang! The Léman campus was awakened this afternoon by a majestic dragon danced to life by our Year 8 students! Amidst the festive beats of gongs and drums, our annual tradition—the New Year Temple Fair—officially began.
Instantly, the entire campus transformed into an ocean of joy. Children gathered together, little hands shaping plump dumplings; young "calligraphers" wielded brushes with flair, creating Spring Festival couplets filled with heartfelt blessings. Over here, the cheerful rhythm of bamboo dancing echoed with laughter and the tapping of bamboo poles; over there, brave little "adventurers," blindfolded, carefully felt their way to strike the copper gong, surrounded by encouraging cheers and happy giggles.
The sweetest sight was the arrival of the "God of Wealth," who distributed lucky candies to everyone. The air was filled with the sugary aroma of candied haws and the artistic fragrance of sugar painting, while every child's face beamed with contentment.
All the joy overflowing across the campus eventually converged into a warm current of kindness. In front of the charity sale booth specially set up for the temple fair, students and teachers gathered eagerly, generously contributing to support individuals with special needs in our local community. At this moment, the vibrant spirit of traditional culture beautifully intertwined with the goodness of compassionate hearts.
This was more than just a temple fair—it was a vivid lesson in "love and sharing." We came together through culture and took action with kindness, giving every moment of joy that afternoon a deeper meaning. The Léman community grows warmer because of the passion each of you brings!
