Primary School - Primary School Assessment Week
Primary School - Primary School Assessment Week

The end of year primary assessments will take place the week beginning Sunday, May 26th. Children will be sitting a mathematics reasoning and arithmetic paper; a reading assessment and a spelling/phonics test. From the assessment results, we will be able to determine whether the children have reached age-related expectations, and this will be reported to all parents at the end of year reports.

There is no need for the children to worry about assessment week, but we do advise a sensible amount of preparation in order to increase confidence. The classes are currently revising and preparing for assessment week, so it is very important that your child attends school every day. Each week they will also receive homework, which will provide consolidation of work, as further preparation for the end of year assessments.

The school will also provide revision packs on parental request. The teachers have carefully selected question examples in all core subjects, which the children have found challenging in interim tests. The revision packs have already been made available for Year 6 and this week Years 1-5 will also circulate revision packs to support your children at home.

During assessment week, children are asked to be in school punctually by 8.00 am (Ramadan Time), so that the assessments can begin promptly. This week parents will also receive the timetable and the exact dates that the children will take the tests.

We are very proud of all the children and their achievements and this new approach to provide guidance for parents at home supports our school aim of raising standards in both literacy and numeracy.
