I wrote a piece about the School Council for the Newsletter near the beginning of the school year about how important it was that students are given a voice within the school.
Well, I am happy to report that this year's Primary School Council have been elected and they are definitely making their voices heard. We have met informally a couple of times to get to know each other better and have our first formal meeting this Thursday.
Already while talking together, there is a strong environmental drive within the School Council with a demand for recycling bins in school, less litter and less plastic use. I look forward to working with the School Council to make these positive changes in school.
There has also been a lot of talk about more positive playtimes with additional activities and games for the children to choose from.
Our special School Council Badges are on the way and we are looking forward to making a start. It is clear that the children in year 2-6 did a fantastic job in electing the right people for this important job and it is my pleasure to formally introduce our Primary School Council to the rest of the school community.
