Read Write Inc

Last week we were fortunate enough to have a visit from Sara Rice-Oxley who is a Read Write Inc. specialist from the U.K. Sara spent two days working with Libby Antonic and Todd Wain to identify good practice across the Primary School as well as to make recommendations on how we can further improve the quality of learning within the Read, Write Inc. curriculum.

Over the two days, Sara had the opportunity to visit many lessons in which she commented on the amazing progress that has already been made by our students since introducing the programme at the start of this year. Sara also held several training sessions across the two days in which she worked with staff on the introduction of a 1 to 1 programme, based on the introduction of this provision so that we can help and best support several of our learners so that they can make even further progress within their reading and writing skills.

Across all age groups within the Primary School, reassessments are taking place over the next week so that we can identify the progress that has been made by each of our students. This will ensure that the students are receiving the appropriate provision based upon their level of attainment with the Read, Write Inc programme.

One element of the two days that was really impressive to witness, was each staff members willingness to embrace the programme as well as being open to ideas that can further enhance their own practice. We hope that this positive mindset, as well as the support provided from Sara, will enable the school and the students to continue to make even further progress as we move throughout the rest of the year.
