It gives me great pleasure to announce that students from Northbridge International School Cambodia will once again have the opportunity to travel to Switzerland as part of Nord Anglia Education’s Switzerland Trekking Expedition programme.

Northbridge students have previously visited Les Martines in 2018, and this will be the second year our students will have the opportunity to trek through the stunning Swiss Alps.

The trip is open to current Grade 5 and 6 students (i.e. students who will be in Grade 6 and 7 next academic year 2019-2020, beginning in August 2019).

The intention of this expedition is for students to learn wilderness skills and gain confidence through outdoor education programmes. It will also feature a trip to a glacial region to observe how glaciers are formed and the effects of climate change on these natural structures.

The Les Martines Resort is 90 minutes from Geneva International Airport situated in the canton of Vaud with easy access to the Valais and Western Bernese Oberland.

Students will have the opportunity to learn outside of the classroom and network with students from all around the world. They are given the opportunity to develop independence, confidence, leadership skills, flexible thinking, resilience, international networking, practical problem solving, organisation, and collaboration.

Moreover students will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to trek through one of the most picturesque mountainous regions on the planet.

This is an expedition that we at Northbridge have the privilege of attending as a Nord Anglia school. This fantastic opportunity will provide a very real and life changing experience for your child, equipping them with essential skills and experiences that will be greatly advantageous in their future in regards to education, career and life as a global citizen.

With the above in mind, please review the programme overview of the Switzerland expedition that is attached below.

There will be a meeting for parents and students next Wednesday, May 23rd at 3:45pm in the Secondary Multipurpose room on the ground floor of the secondary building. The intention of this meeting is to share with you in greater detail about the trip, answer questions and for us to gauge interest in who may want to attend this trip.

As planning and preparation is key, the final group of students who will be selected for the trip will be decided by May 28th. Thus this meeting is mandatory for both parents and the students who wish to attend the trip.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Trip Coordinator
