Grade 12 students will begin their mock examinations on Thursday, 15 January, sitting examination papers across all subjects is an important step in their preparation for the final examinations starting in April.

Mock exams are a vital part of the learning journey, helping students build confidence, develop effective exam techniques, and approach their final assessments with greater assurance.

Why Are Grade 12 Mock Exams Important?

Mock examinations play a key role in supporting academic success by helping students:

  • Adjust to the formality of the examination environment, including timing, structure, and expectations

  • Familiarise themselves with exam-style questions, formats, and command words

  • Practise managing multiple subjects under exam conditions

  • Identify strengths and gaps in understanding, enabling targeted support from teachers

These experiences help students transition from preparation to performance with greater clarity and confidence.

How We Support Students at School

Throughout Academic Study Time (AST), teachers have worked closely with students to build essential skills for exam success, including:

  • Effective study and revision strategies

  • Time management techniques to balance subjects and workload

  • Creating and refining realistic revision timetables

By guiding students to discover what works best for them, we empower them to take ownership of their learning and prepare confidently for their final examinations.

How Parents Can Support at Home During Mock Exams

Strong home–school partnerships are central to student wellbeing and success. Parents can help in simple but meaningful ways:

🥗 Encourage Healthy Habits

Ensure students have access to nutritious meals and maintain regular eating habits to support focus and energy levels.

⚖️ Promote Balance

Help students find a balance between revision and rest, allowing time to recharge and avoid burnout.

😴 Prioritise Sleep

Good sleep routines are essential. Well‑rested students are better able to concentrate, retain information, and manage stress.

A Time for Encouragement and Reassurance

We recognise that mock exams can feel challenging and, at times, overwhelming. A kind word, quiet encouragement, or even a simple smile can make a significant difference to a student’s confidence and wellbeing.

Together, we are supporting our Grade 12 students as they prepare for the next important stage of their academic journey.

Good luck, Grade 12 students—and thank you to parents for your continued support.
