Recycling Program

24 April 2014

This term, Primary students will be learning more about the importance of caring for the environment, with teachers raising awareness and educating students about recycling.

New recycling bins have been put out around the school grounds consisting of four clearly marked bins –plastic, paper, cans and other rubbish. Dedicated ‘bin monitors’ made up of student council members and their peers have been assigned to encourage recycling and to make sure everyone is placing rubbish into the appropriate bins.  The bin monitors aren’t easily missed thanks to their high-vis jackets!

In addition, a recycling box competition is taking place in Years 1- 6, with classes decorating a cardboard box with a recycling theme. Judging will take place next week during assemblies. A winner will be selected in each year group and the prize will be a screening of the film ‘The Lorax’ which, quite fittingly, has a green awareness theme.
