Our Foundation Stage (FS) is often the first formal education a child undertakes and our teachers are very sensitive to the fact that students are not always used to the school routine.
We follow the UK EYFS framework, but we enhance it with an international twist to meet the needs of all our students. Our curriculum is delivered through a multi-sensory, play-based approach where our students will sing, dance, swim, experiment, paint, read, construct and generally have a wonderful time.
Our school has a dedicated Early Years area which provides your young child with the finest surroundings for their first school experience. We maximise our wonderful, purpose-built Foundation Stage playgrounds which act as an extension of the classroom, to expand the range of activities our students can access on a daily basis.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (Nursery and FS2) has 7 areas of learning and development:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Communication and Language
- Physical Development
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Arts and Design
These areas of learning and development are explored through topics such as ‘Help’, ‘Let’s go Explore’ and ‘Down in the Deep Dark Woods’. We provide real-life, concrete experiences and we believe in setting high standards for learning. We ensure that every child makes progress and that no child gets left behind. Our students will be informally consulted about their learning opportunities and environments, and we will always endeavor to follow their interests to ensure planned activities and themes are motivating for them. We use our ongoing observational assessments to inform all the planning requirements to meet the needs of each student.
