I have been teaching since 1994. Prior to moving to Abu Dhabi, the last 12 years have been as a headteacher leading a school from challenging circumstances to a successful organisation that now develops and supports the practice of others.
I am passionate about improving the outcomes for children. Their time in school should set the foundations for a successful and happy future. Learning to learn is at the heart of what I do and consequently, I invest a lot of time and effort in developing high quality on-going cpd.
My previous school has recently we have been identified as one of 5 schools in England to work with the DfE and Teacher Development Trust in supporting schools in difficulties. I ran development programmes on behalf of the local authority for new headteachers, and support schools in improving by working in partnership with their leadership teams.
I deliver cpd and have been fortunate to have done so in an international school, developing their approach to mastery in maths. I speak at national conferences on subjects from leadership, effective use of support staff, developing a coaching culture and effective use of cpd. I have worked with The Key and the Teacher Development Trust. I love learning and have just completed a year-long study of Executive Headship.
I have lived and taught in the UK all my life and am very excited about our adventure in Abu Dhabi. I enjoy being active and being with people. I love cycling, golf, playing football, and have recently taken up tennis. I enjoy a challenge and am currently learning to play the guitar, much to the annoyance of my wife and children.
I was attracted to BIS Abu Dhabi because of the values it holds and the passion that it demonstrates for all its pupils to be the best they can be. The access to high quality provision is exciting, especially the partnerships that it holds with other well-known institutions. I am excited to be a part of a forward-thinking school with a team of committed professionals who care about the day to day interactions with children.
