I began my teaching career in Australia in 2001 in Early Years and KS1, having grown up in South Australia with a keen interest in Special Educational needs. In 2004, I moved to the UK and worked in various positions, teaching KS1 and KS2 whilst holding a number of different curriculum responsibilities and leadership posts, including Science leader, Key Stage Leader and as a SENCO.
In 2014 I made the exciting decision to take a sharp turn east to Hong Kong, where I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching at our sister school, Nord Anglia International School Hong Kong. I predominately spent my time teaching and leading the Year 1 team, but also lead the Additional Support Team across the school.
My experiences in Hong Kong and the UK have afforded me wonderful opportunities to explore new cultures through the mediums of food, sport, music and more... all of which I cannot wait to explore in Abu Dhabi! I moved to Abu Dhabi with my family consisting of my husband, 7 year old son and our cat ‘Mao Mao’. We can’t wait to get out and start exploring not only Abu Dhabi but the wider region especially the food. I love to spend my free time travelling, reading, watching live sport and trying all sorts of new things.
I really enjoy the creativity, variety and endless possibilities of the Primary classroom. By joining BIS Abu Dhabi, with its progressive collaborations with Juilliard and MIT and a global network of schools, I feel enhances learning opportunities not available elsewhere. I firmly believe that creating a nurturing environment and building trusting relationships between a child and their teacher is the key to developing confidence for learning and academic success.
