After graduating from Newman University with a BA (Hons) in Primary Education, I first began my teaching career teaching a Year 3 class in a small primary school in my home town of Birmingham. As the school was a one form entry primary, I quickly developed skills in planning, assessment and monitoring and worked as part of a wonderfully supportive and creative team of teachers and SLT.
After two years, my husband and I decided to follow our dream of international teaching and gained two teaching roles in Abu Dhabi in the summer of 2014.
Following the arrival of our little girl in 2016, we returned to the UK, where I took on the role of Year 3 teacher at my previous school and soon became part of the Senior Leadership team and the school SENDCo.
My family has since grown from 3 to 4 and we welcomed our little boy in 2018. We spend most weekends exploring with our children and enjoy travel, showing our children different and unique places and cultures. Family is a huge part of our journey and why we felt returning to Abu Dhabi seemed the obvious choice, full of adventure, family orientated and full of opportunities.
In my spare time I enjoy running and yoga as I enjoy keeping fit and enjoy the well-being and benefits of exercise. Travel is another interest of mine and I have had the fortunate pleasure of visiting many diverse and unique places around the world. Highlights of mine visiting the Islands of Thailand and exploring Bali and Kuala Lumpur.
Knowing that we wanted to ensure that we were part of an immersive, supportive and creative education system, we chose BIS Abu Dhabi as it reflected all of the key features of education that we knew were important to not only us as teachers teaching there, but for our children who would attend. The family orientated nature of the school, teamed with opportunities and academic success provides an excellent opportunity as an international teacher.
