I have been a teacher since 2004. I graduated with a degree in Environmental Studies and Education back in 2003 and went onto undertake my PGCE course close to my family home in Kingston-upon-Thames, Southwest London.
I am lucky enough to have worked in a variety of state and private schools in and around the London area. I had many different roles within these schools including numerous coordination roles in PE, Science, English, SMSC, and Humanities. These roles have allowed me to be involved in whole school projects such as the ‘Healthy Schools Project’, ‘Sports Mark’ and numerous policy, assessment and inclusion projects. This was a great building block for my final role before leaving to teach internationally, where I worked as a senior leader in one of London’s leading pre prep schools. I was lucky enough to be involved in the development and enrichment of the curriculum and be able to support the improvement of the 150-year-old building and grounds to best facilitate the learning and enjoyment for the 200 children attending.
In 2018 my husband and I decided we would like to take our young children to explore a little more of the world around them. We were both lucky to secure teaching roles in Abu Dhabi and were thrilled to be moving out to gain new experiences with our two children. We have been in Abu Dhabi for three years now and are enjoying all the experiences we can as a family of four. My two children love nothing more than to splash about in the pool on a warm day and enjoy a delicious ice cream.
In my younger days I spent a lot of time participating and competing in sport, particularly rowing. There are not too many rivers around Abu Dhabi, so I try to stay active by going out for walks and runs with my family, especially in the winter months we like nothing more than walking along the Corniche watching the sunset over the sea. As a family we are thrilled to have joined BIS Abu Dhabi - a truly international school with fantastic links to outstanding educational institutions across the world.
