I graduated from Canterbury Christchurch University upon completing a BA honours in Physical Education and Sports Science. During my time at university, it was clear I very much enjoyed and desired to continue to support and aid students academically mentally, physically, and socially. Therefore, I decided to complete a PGCE in Primary education. Such a post-graduate course provided me with the opportunity to teach a range of subjects and have my own class to nurture. After the successful completion of my PGCE, I began working at a respite care centre for children with disabilities over the summer. I thoroughly enjoyed the role and while I was starting my Newly Qualified Teacher status I continued to work at the centre during the holidays.
My first teaching post was a Year 3 class at an Outstanding Ofsted-rated school in Essex. I gained much experience within this role becoming the Head of Computing after my first year. During my second year, I was given the opportunity to complete a Higher Leadership diploma.
I have always fantasised about the idea of teaching abroad, as I would like to reach out and learn skills from various cultures around the world. I strongly believe that an important part of education is being a reflective practitioner, whereby I learn from my students, colleagues, parents, and the community. I am thrilled and excited to have joined the British International School Abu Dhabi as this amazing opportunity will allow for the sharing of new strategies, new ideas, and new philosophies.
I have a huge passion for sport as I believe sport connects people together. My favourite sports to play are football, badminton and table tennis. I also very much enjoy outdoor adventures, such as rock climbing and hiking.
I am excited to be living in a new environment where I can experience new adventures, challenges and food!
