I first worked at an international school in Cairo, Egypt, working in Year 1 and Year 3. My husband and I then made the decision to move to BIS Abu Dhabi in 2015. We were attracted to BIS Abu Dhabi initially, as we were impressed with its ‘be ambitious’ philosophy and its emphasis on preparing students for a modern day world. We were also excited to be part of the Nord Anglia family, it being a global leader in international education.
During my first two years at BIS Abu Dhabi I taught in Year 1 and last year I led the Year 2 team. I am about to go into my 7th year of teaching after having a year’s break with my son who was born last year. I’m very excited to be returning to BIS Abu Dhabi and very much looking forward to the year ahead.
I live here with my husband Paul, who also works at BIS Abu Dhabi as the head of PE, and our son Finlay. We both love to travel, although that is a little harder now! We love to visit new places, try new experiences and appreciate different cultures. This is part of why we love Abu Dhabi so much! I have been into sports and fitness most of my life. I was a keen swimmer and for many years I was an avid dancer (ballet, tap and jazz). I love running and I’d love to complete a half-marathon at some point in the future. I also love to read and can spend hours lost in a good book, when I’m not chasing around my toddler!
BIS Abu Dhabi is unique because it feels like a family. The atmosphere around school is so warm, welcoming and friendly, it is a fantastic place to teach. I love that the students are also at the heart of everything we do, whether that be inside the classroom or via the extensive c--curricular activities on offer. You can tell that students are genuinely happy to be in school and I very much enjoy being a part of that.
