From an early age, teaching was always my dream career. I graduated from Edge Hill University with a BA (HONS) degree in Primary Education with Qualified Teacher Status and a specialism in Modern Foreign Languages.
The majority of my teaching career has been spent in Years 5 & 6 in an outstanding inner-city school in Liverpool, where I had the opportunity to work with children from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds. I pride myself on creating a warm, welcoming and safe classroom where children are able to excel both personally and academically.
In my previous school, I was part of the Senior Leadership team where I had the opportunity to fulfil many roles including: Assistant Headteacher, English Subject Leader, Maths Subject Leader, Curriculum Lead, Moderation Lead and Mentor for Newly Qualified Teachers. In order to fulfil these roles, teamwork was vital and I thoroughly enjoyed working closely with and supporting all members of my team.
Although I have had an exciting career, I love to try new things and challenge myself and so a move to BIS Abu Dhabi was exactly what I have been looking for.
I was born and raised for most of my life in the wonderful city of Liverpool, England. Between the ages of 10-14 I moved to Spain with my parents and attended a Spanish state school where I learnt to speak Spanish fluently. Since this experience, the teaching and learning of languages has become a keen interest of mine and I thoroughly look forward to learning Arabic.
I am extremely passionate about all of the children I work with; becoming a teacher was always my dream as I feel there is nothing more rewarding than shaping the lives of the future. I am an avid reader; there is nothing I love more than losing myself in a good book and being able to provide recommendations to the children I work with. I moved to Abu Dhabi with my husband and my two beautiful little girls Avah and Lilli, who attend BIS Abu Dhabi.
