Ms. Gil is a versatile educator with 13 years of international experience. She completed a degree in Translation and Interpreting in Spanish, English and French at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain. As part of her degree, she also studied for a year in Dublin City University, Ireland. She then obtained her GTP in Modern Foreign Languages at CILT, London, UK.
Straight after my studies, I moved to England to teach French and Spanish from Year 7 up to GCSE. I taught in the state system for 8 years at schools in London, Cambridge and Brighton and I was also a certified examiner for GCSE Spanish. Inspired by some adventurous colleagues and willing to continue exploring the world, I then came to Abu Dhabi where I taught the MYP and IB Diploma programmes in a private school for the last 6 years. I have also been an external examiner for IB Spanish for the last 4 years.
I am very excited to finally work for a Nord Anglia Education school, as I have many friends who have been very happy working in NAE schools around the globe. I am so glad to be part of the BIS Abu Dhabi family and teach the two programmes I believe best prepare our young generations for the future, IGCSE and the IB Diploma.
I was born and raised in Gran Canaria, one of the Canary Islands in Spain. I will forever be grateful to my parents who decided to send me every summer from the age of 13 to live and experience life in London with a host family. This is how I started developing my curiosity and love for different languages, cultures and ways of living. Nowadays, I can proudly say I am an eager promoter of my own culture, multiculturalism and open mindedness. These are core values I transmit in my day-to-day teaching and also when parenting my two sons. My eldest, Alberto, will be joining BIS Abu Dhabi next year and is already learning how to say ‘hello’ in the many different languages of his future classmates!
