On Tuesday 6 November NAISAK U16 boys volleyball team played Compass MK in a friendly match. The 2 schools had recently played against each other in a tournament and were looking forward to put their previous match experience into practice. In the first set, the lead went back and forth before NAISAK had a late run of points to win 25 - 18. The second set was also very close but the NAISAK team managed to keep their cool and work effectively as a team, winning 25 – 18 again. In the 3rd set, heads were held high and confidence was showing as the NAISAK team showed off their skills, winning comprehensively 25 - 14. Mr Gavin said “I was very impressed with the whole team performance. The players showed that they had learnt a lot from the last tournament and utilized this new knowledge well”.
On Wednesday 7 November, the U10 and U11 boys football team competed in a tournament at Aspire against other schools from Qatar. The boys performed brilliantly, exceeding all expectation in skills and behaviour. As a result of this, the under 10s came third and earned a bronze medal – the first NAISAK boys football medal! The effort of the under 11s was outstanding and although they didn’t win a medal, their enthusiasm and respect was second to none.
The U16 girls have entered the Netball league this year, a sport that is new to most in the team. Their season started last Wednesday with 2 games against Dukhan and Oryx International Schools. Both teams travelled to us which was very exciting as we were able to christen our new sports facilities with the first competitive matches of the year. The first game against Dukhan was very close throughout with each quarter end with a tied score. In the last quarter Dukhan pulled away by 2 goals but the final score ended 6-7 to Dukhan. Dukhan then played Oryx which was a high scoring game finishing 3 – 17 to Dukhan. The final game NAISAK played Oryx. The girls felt more settled by this time and began to put lots of the tactics we had practised in training into the game. After halftime their confidence was high with a score of 6-0. The final score ended 8-0 and with lots of happy faces. It’s great to see the girls so committed to sport so far this year. Their next fixture is on Wednesday against 2 teams from Mesaieed. A huge thank you to our Year 7, 8 and 9 girls who stayed to support, welcome our visiting teams and score all the games. Support from parents is always welcome.
