Into the last week of a fantastic first term in our new High School, and some old and new, Christmas traditions at St Andrews International School Bangkok.

We’re into Week 16, and ready to celebrate both Christmas and the end of a fantastic first term in our new High School, during which we have both built on the traditions of previous years and begun new traditions, like last Wednesday’s wonderful first Key Stage 3 Production of Alice in Wonderland and Sunday’s Central Thailand Mission Winter Carnival. Thank you to all those parents who contributed and especially to all the House Leaders and CAS students who worked so hard to give all our visitors such a great day. See the Drama and House/CAS sections below for more information about these two events.

Also this weekend, 11 of our students attended the FOBISIA MUN at Harrow International School Bangkok. Congratulations to Yei Tangchartsiri who won best delegate in the SPECOL committee. Here’s what our students had to say about the experience: Akshat, Aryan, Jojo, Manon, Maya, Michelle, Oonita, Sasha, Sayantika, Vidip, Yei.

The Christmas presents for children at the Bangkok Refugee Centre are starting to appear under the High School tree this morning. As I wrote last week, this is an opportunity for everyone in the High School to make a difference to the lives of those less fortunate than ourselves.

If you would like to take part in this, please put together a small box filled with gifts and useful items (e.g. small toys, toiletries, books, clothing) that can help the children at the Bangkok Refugee Centre, even if they are facing the difficulty of living as refugees in a foreign country. When you have filled and wrapped your box, please make sure it is clearly labelled with the age-group and gender (if appropriate) that the contents of the box are most suitable for, and then leave it under the Christmas tree in the Blue Building before school starts on Thursday

On Thursday we have our annual Christmas Fair and Concert, one of our oldest traditions, but this year the Primary and High School Fairs and Concerts are taking place on different days to allow parents to be able to attend both.

The Christmas Fair will begin at 2:30 and will be hosted by our Business Enterprise, CAS and Senior Studies Students, with lots of activities and food for you to enjoy, and the Christmas Concert, which will begin at 4, will include performances from all of the students in Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9) as well as many of our instrumental and vocal ensembles. The external food vendors will also be selling food after the end of the Concert for those who would like to eat before heading home.

Please can parents complete this Google Form so that we can plan for the number of people attending, and note that we are unable to provide school transport following the end of the concert. If your child usually uses the school bus please make alternative arrangements for your child to return home at this time.

Then it’s Friday, the last day of Term 1! We will end the term with an Assembly, which will include the introduction of another new tradition, our new House Mascots. At 12:35, lunch will be available as usual in the Canteen, before School Buses leave at 1:00.

I look forward to seeing many of you at these events, as we celebrate both Christmas and the end of a Great first term in the new High School, and hope that you all have an enjoyable and restful holiday.

Head of High School
