Find out about how Year 12 CAS students at St Andrews International School Bangkok will organise their Christmas Charity appeal on behalf of the Giving Tree.

Our year 12 CAS students would like to invite you to participate in our Christmas Charity Appeal in association with the Giving Tree: an organisation which collects a donation of gift bags for Christmas to Karen children living in North Thailand Mountains (Tha Song Yang District). Those children are living among less privileged families and communities and are waiting, each year, for these bags and the spirit of Christmas and sharing with great joy.

The Giving Tree, it’s an easy concept:

  1. Please register online by clicking here.

  2. You can declare how many bags you want to donate before Thursday 15th November.

  3. After you have signed up you will receive an email with information about the child assigned to your family. This card describing the child who will receive the gift: their name, age, size, and grade, information about their family, and also their favourite colour and the toy they are dreaming of!

  4. You then will have until Monday 3rd December to purchase the items and bring them to school. Please ensure you clearly label anything donated with your family’s name and the child’s unique code. Your gifts will be transferred to a special Giving Tree bag by the CAS students.

  5. The bags will be sent in the Karen villages, where each bag will be distributed individually to each child during a Christmas party, and the magic of Christmas will do the rest!

What is a gift bag?

- Approximate value: 1000 to 1500 Baht

- Containing:

  • A warm sweatshirt or overcoat,

  • A t-shirt,

  • School supplies: 4 pens, 4 pencils, eraser, sharpener, scissors, a box of colored pencils and a pencil case,

  • A toy or a small gift (if possible not 100% plastic-made),

  • The child’s requested present - this will be on the child’s card, such as badminton set, teddy, football, or trainers.

CAS student fundraising will be sponsoring the cost of the transport to the villages and printing of bags.

We rely on you and hope you will join this wonderful project! Last year, thanks to school participation, the Giving Tree gathered more than 300 bags: this year and with your help we want to gather 450 to offer each child from different Karen villages a chance to have a wonderful Christmas!
