A new challenge awaits our Primary FOBISIA team at this year's Games. Best of luck to all the children!

So the time has come. Our 40 FOBISIA STA children travel to Phuket for one of the most important tournaments of the year. The children have been training since January and now are ready for the hardest FOBISIA yet. Best of luck to all the children and enjoy the 3 days of competition.

This year’s FOBISIA Games is held at the Thanyapura Sports Resort and is the first Games in which STA will compete as an ‘A’ school. An ‘A’ school is a school that has been recognised as being a school that has an outstanding sports programme and has athletes that year in year out produce a high level of performance. It is a great opportunity for our children to compete against some of the best young athletes in Asia.

BISAC

Over the past few years our sports programme has changed and developed to the next level. From next year we will be official members of BISAC. For Primary Sport it means we will be competing in more sporting events throughout the year. This will give more opportunities for our children in sports like athletics, gymnastics, teeball and also football, basketball and swimming. We will also remain part of TISAC in which our Primary development squads (B, C, D) will compete. This is a very exciting development and will give more opportunities for our children to compete for STA.

Teeball

Well done to the 40 children that went to Patana for the teeball fixture. It was great preparation for the FOBISIA Games and also great to see our children performing at such a high level.

Tennis

Our future tennis stars were showing off their skills at their recent tournament at Patana. Lots of fun games and some excellent tennis on show as we continue to improve! Well done to all of the children involved.

Year 5/6 Sports Day

We have one final Sports Day on the 11th June from 8-11.50am. It will be an action packed morning in which children will try to accumulate as many points for their House as possible. Hard work, determination and lots of fun! Currently YAO have won all 3 Sports Days this year. Surely they can not win all 4?

School Online Communication System - SOCS

We hope you may have had a chance to look at our news Sports portal, where we are already posting fixtures, team sheets, photos etc for our busy sports schedule. You may access it using this link.

The site is open for players and parents alike to check rosters, schedules etc. It is a great tool for communication between coaches, players and parents, though unlike the current system, the emphasis will be on parents and players to be proactive in checking the site, rather than awaiting emails from coaches!

We will still need to communicate via email for transport requirements for the time being.

Mr. Ollie presented the new system to the High School students in early March so that they may get to know it. He’ll recommend to them that they show it to you too, in case you’re interested.

We recommend that you visit the site and familiarise yourself with it. If you have any feedback, please let either Mr Damon or Mr Ollie know.

By August, we hope everyone will be ready to use SOCS to follow the action!

Saturday Programme and Outside Opportunities

Our Saturday programme continues to grow and it is great seeing so many of our STA children coming to school to enjoy playing sport together.

On Saturday we had our very first Saturday football. Close to 60 children were at STA on Saturday to enjoy playing football. In case of bad weather, training will continue in the Red Room.

Our Open basketball and Flames Academy sessions continue to grow with many children enjoying the game and being coached at a high level of basketball.

If you would like to know more about our Saturday programme please email Mr Damon.
