Girls sport just keeps getting better and better! Our younger swimmers were in action and our athletes run, throw and jump to new levels at the BISAC Athletics meet.
This week KS2 were busy with the aquathon, testing themselves with this endurance event combining running and swimming.
Our younger swimmers competed at their BISAC event, plus we had both the U11 girls Flames and U11 boys Blaze football teams in action in their TISAC leagues.
Our golfers were in action again at the BISAC Golf event and our athletes were testing their skills up against BISAC schools at the U11 Track and Field Meet.
Over the last few weeks our STA girls have shown how incredible they are. Whether it’s gymnastics, swimming, football, athletics, tennis or golf, our girls are performing brilliantly. It is a joy to see so many girls in our sports programme enjoying the variety of sport we have at STA and competing at such a high level.
On Saturday, the Primary PE team were hosting the U11 BISAC Track and Field meet. A big thank you to all the people who helped support the event.
Our children were fantastic as always and should be proud of how resilient and determined they were. There were several children who were competing for the first time and our athletes did not disappoint. Our girls team came 2nd and our boys team 3rd. There were also 6 school records beaten;
These records will go up on the board ASAP.
A special well done to Yuzu for finishing 4th overall in the FOBISIA U13 Girls Singles event, even more impressive as she is still U11 age category.
Fabulous swimming from our 7-8 Primary Marlins at BISAC Swim Festival. Our swimmers had lots of fun and personal best times. Thank you all involved for making this event a successful one.

Both our U11 teams were in action in their last TISAC league festivals. Our U11 girls Flames team were crowned Champions finishing undefeated across both festivals. Our U11 boys Blaze team had a tough last festival finishing 3rd in their league.
Next we have the TISAC tournaments for U9/U11 coming up with both our U9 boys and girls in action on 26 March and then our U11 teams play on 30 March.

Our Primary golfers were in action again at the weekend looking to continue with the momentum from last weeks successes at the Golf FOBISIA.
Last week, we took a team from St Andrews International School Bangkok to the 2019 FOBISIA Golf Tournament in Hua Hin at the Black Mountain golf course. This was the first time that we were able to take a full team of 12 golfers: 4 students from Primary and 8 from High School. It was a fantastic week where all of the children were outstanding ambassadors for the school. The High School students did a great job of looking out for the Primary children and we were fortunate enough to have lots of support from our incredibly supportive parents.
Team spirit was clear for all to see, with parents and students looking very smart in their STA kit and everyone made a real effort to support each other. We were complimented by a number of coaches, parents and players from other schools on how sportsmanlike and polite our team was as well as how much effort they put in to their game.
One of the highlights was to be the first team to win the net team prize and this was extra special as it was a combination of both boy and girl scores from both campuses that clinched this for us: Pun Pun, Leely, Jida and Boom. It was also really special to see how much resilience that the whole team showed. Black Mountain is a very challenging course with strong winds and extremely tough greens - this did not dampen the team’s spirits and many members were straight back out on practice areas to help them to improve for the next day.
Our Primary golfers were exceptional. JJ (Year 4) showed real courage and determination as one of the youngest players in his flight and was able to show his strength of character to bounce back after particularly difficult holes, especially as this was his first FOBISIA competition. He still has 2 more years to compete in this category. Fahsai (Year 5) managed to post some excellent scores and her positive outlook and sense of humour was a joy to be around, for us and the other competitors alike. This was also her first FOBISIA and she will have the opportunity to play in this group again next year. Pun Pun (Year 5) came 3rd in his flight, an excellent performance for his first FOBISIA and was one of the contributors to the net team prize. Leely (Year 6) played in a very competitive group and improved her score day on day to win her group with a final day score of 4 under par; an amazing achievement! Leely also came top of the net scores for her category as well as 2nd place out of all the girls for gross scores and 2nd out of nearly 128 golfers for net score for the tournament. She also added to this with an impressive win in the longest drive competition.

We appreciate that you are often hearing different acronyms - TISAC, BISAC, FOBISIA - that we are involved in but may not know much about them. We hope that the following overview will therefore be useful.
We are currently members of four conferences or organisations:
We have been members for many years. This has 16 schools involved which vary in size from small to very large. Currently, we mostly enter Blaze teams in TISAC. There are leagues and tournaments in several sports from U9-U19 and next year, TISAC will also start its own multi-sport Games for Primary children.
This is our first year in BISAC. The 12-school membership includes the largest international schools in Bangkok in leagues and tournaments across many sports, from U9-U19, split into four seasons through the year. BISAC schools also run invitational tournaments.
This has three major multi-sport Games per year (Primary, U13 and U15) that take place in Phuket against other schools across Asia. There are also single-sport events in Tennis, Golf, Swimming and more, which take place across Asia and provide some amazing travel opportunities.
We are part of the South East Asia division and meet for a U11 multi-sport Games once a year. Our schools take it in turn to host the NAE Games.
In addition, we are part of the wider circuit regionally which means we are invited to a whole range of other events across Thailand.
Currently we are able to offer STA students opportunities through these conferences in Football, Basketball, Swimming, Tennis, Badminton, Golf, Teeball, Track and Field, Triathlon, Cross Country.
