High School: Another Day of Sun

High School: Another Day of Sun

Our two EDT inspectors, Sally Lane and David Bowles, were "very happy with everything" and the Broadway Mashup's Matinee and Evening performances received fantastic reviews. This week, High School students and parents have the opportunity to meet 76 well-known higher education institutions from the UK; we congratulate Year 11 students for attaining their Duke of Edinburgh Award and provide a Traffic update. Our two EDT inspectors, Sally Lane and David Bowles, were "very happy with everything" that they saw over their two days at St Andrews last week, with all the meetings, with teachers, students and parents, being very positive and also very positive feedback on the High School lessons that they observed on Monday afternoon.

As Mr Paul has written in his Head’s Lines, “They were very positive about all they had seen inside and outside of the classrooms and were very impressed with everyone they had met and had discussions about different aspects of the operation and management of the school.”

St Andrews therefore both continues to be accredited as an Outstanding school and as a holder of the British Schools Overseas Award.

As I wrote in last week’s Newsletter, Sally and David began their tour of the High School last Monday in the Theatre, where we were lucky enough to see a sneak preview of the first number from this year’s High School Production: Broadway Mashup.

Tuesday and Wednesday's Matinee and Evening performances got fantastic reviews - I watched the livestream on Wednesday - but unfortunately a positive case among the cast meant that we had to postpone Thursday’s final performances.

We will inform the lucky ticket holders of the rearranged date as soon as we are able to confirm this.

University Update

This coming Tuesday, High School students and parents have the opportunity to meet 76 well-known higher education institutions from across England, Scotland and Wales. This Virtual event will include a study in the UK Presentation and finish with a Breakout Rooms Session where Students and families can interact directly with university admissions officers.

This week we would also like to congratulate Samuel on receiving offers from a number of universities around the world.

"I am most interested in attending university in Hong Kong or Singapore. These two countries are some of the biggest financial hubs globally, and studying there would widen my exposure to the opportunities available in the world of finance."

Duke of Edinburgh International Award

Congratulations to Year 11 students Nunu, Yun Jung, Nysa, Ing Ing, and Pin for achieving the Bronze level of the Duke of Edinburgh International Award. Despite restrictions caused by COVID, they managed to complete the Bronze level online by demonstrating resilience and completing the Service, Skill and Physical aspects.

Hopefully, they will continue on to the Silver Award and will be able to experience a real Adventurous journey next year.

Please remember that all the school's live Google Calendars can be seen via Moodle
