Our Key Stage 3 curriculum for high school students (ages 12 to 14) is based on the English National Curriculum, but adapted both to reflect our location in Thailand and Southeast Asia and to better prepare students for IGCSEs, the IB Diploma Programme and life at university and beyond.
The curriculum for Years 7 to 9 includes many opportunities for students to develop international awareness and understanding across a wide range of subjects. The academic programme is underpinned by a pastoral programme which seeks to develop the individual skills necessary for students to make the right decisions, take responsibility for their actions and have a broad understanding and appreciation of the cultures that live together in our international community.
Learning at Key Stage 3
Key Stage 3 students follow a course of study that provides a diverse, comprehensive range of learning experiences which are child-centred in approach and seek to encourage the students to learn from first-hand experiences and activities.
As well as allowing young people to develop their social, literacy and analytical skills, the Key Stage 3 curriculum provides plenty of challenges that will help our students learn to perform in today’s modern technological world.
Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 follow a broad and balanced curriculum, which includes the following subjects:
- Design Technology
- French, German, Japanese and Thai as First Languages
- French, Mandarin, Japanese and Thai as Foreign Languages
- Information and Communication Technology
- Physical Education
- Personal, Social and Health Education
During Year 9, students make decisions concerning the courses they will pursue during Key Stage 4 (Years 10 and 11). Support is provided for the students during their Personal, Social and Health Education lessons and an ‘Information Evening’ for students and their parents.
