November is here and that means there are just a few short weeks left before Winter Break! We have a number of upcoming events and it is an exciting time to be part of the LFA. If you would like to volunteer with LFA contact your homeroom parent to get in touch. We have a lot of fun things planned for the remainder of the year!
LFA will be accepting donations of baked goods for the upcoming CISA Cross-Country even on November 13. The event will be hosted by Leman and last from 9:30 am until 2 or 3pm. Mr. Julian will be cooking waffles for the students so don’t forget to send some money with your kids that day!
Another upcoming Cross-Country event will be hosted at Leman on November 17th. If you would like to help with donation of baked goods or with running the booth that day, please contact either your class’s homeroom parent or a member of LFA. A WeChat group will be created for volunteers.
November 30th’s LFA Christmas Baking Class is so popular that it is now full! If you are added to the WeChat group you are set to attend and will be required to pay. If you cannot make it to the class please exit the WeChat group to allow room for another to attend.
An important change to note was revealed today at the LFA meeting! Mr. Mindorff explained that the school’s gymnasium will no longer be the site for the upcoming Winter Concerts. Instead, all Leman students will perform on the same day, Thursday, December 13th, at the Kempinski hotel. Questions regarding the change can be addressed to your homeroom parent or teacher. More information will be distributed before the event.
On Friday, November 30th, the LFA will be busy at the school setting up the Christmas tree! If anyone would like to take part in this fun tradition, please contact the LFA!
LFA would like to say thank you to the entire Leman student body by giving out FREE ICE CREAM on Monday, December 3rd. The ice cream will be passed to the students after their lunch period, just outside the cafeteria. This is one way that LFA likes to use funds to give back to the students.
We would like to ask parents to contribute to a basket for a raffle at an upcoming Holiday Bazaar. Donations can be anything unique from your home-town or country. We will give these items to Tina Chen who will assemble the basket. The proceeds from this basket will go to Hopeful Hearts, an organization that helps pay for heart surgeries of children from low-income families. The Holiday Bazaar will take place on November 24th.
LFA is striving to create a forum where parents can come and ask questions to the administration of Leman in an open manner. Mr. Mindorff has set the date for Wednesday, February 20th. The event will be held down town and during the daytime. We will be asking for questions and concerns about the school from the parents in advance to this date.
Mr. Jarrett is currently leading his students in several service activities and is hoping that parents can contribute ideas for ways that these students can help. If you have any ideas, please pass it on to him at Jarrett.Brown@lis-chengdu.com">Jarrett.Brown@lis-chengdu.com.
