Location, location on the wall....

This week, Year 7 left the familiarity of their classroom seats and were introduced to their new wall map in the Geography department corridor

  • Geo map 1
  • Geo map 2
  • Geo Map 3
  • Geo Map 4
  • Geo Map 5

Students began practising their 'Find The Place' skills by ambitiously labelling as many countries as they could on the map.

Locational Geography is a foundational skill in learning the subject in Key Stage 3, and serves well to springboard their learning into specific countries later on in their studies. How can you do Geography without knowing where places are after all?!

Average height restrictions of our young budding Geographers limited them largely to the Southern Hemisphere, but nonetheless they managed to enthusiastically locate a large number of countries that they learnt in their first term.

These new learning tools are great for expanding learning both physically and mentally, and really help visual and kinaesthetic learners to become more engaged in their studies. We'd like to thank the school for making this wonderfully diverse addition to our Department possible, and we look forward to using it more and more often!"
