Football
The students all worked hard and showed great resilience against some well drilled teams. It is going to be exciting to see how these squads develop in the future. A highlight of Mr Michalak’s was the quantity of goals scored!
Also in action this week were our U14 boys against the playmaker academy. The evening proved tough for the TBS team but again, the students stuck to their tasks and grew in confidence as the game progressed. The experience should stand them in good stead as they have plenty of time to work on the training ground before their next fixture.
Volleyball
In their penultimate week before the season ending Nord Anglia tournament, Mr Kienhuis pitted the U19 boys against ASW for a final time. Both squads have shown great fighting spirit and a competitive edge as they have supported each other in tournament preparation.
Wednesday night was no different and a real mutual respect was evident both on and off the court. Both teams enjoyed some pizza after the games which we hope will power the boys to victory in Budapest next week.
Basketball
Our U19 boys had their first 2 fixtures of their district tournament group games on Monday and came away with a win and a loss. Their loss to the tournament hosts and favourites was only by a narrow 3 point margin. The team play their 3rd group game next week and we hope that a win will see them through to the knock out stages. The challenge of this tournament is very high and the students are often pitted against slightly older and bigger opponents, their quality in the face of these challenges is a credit to their coaches.
The highlight of the week came on Thursday for our Y7 & 8 basketball squad we entered a tournament and came away with the gold winner’s trophy and an MVP award. The team was led by Mia Z. (Tournament MVP) and Sonia G. and won all of their games. The final match resulted in a 9-8 TBS victory against sport school SP 202, who were hosting the games. Undoubtedly the defining moment of the game was a successful free throw by Iana H. that gave us a lead with 10 second left. Thanks to coach Tomek and Coach Witek for all their work with these 2 squads in their competitions.
Next week see’s the busy schedule continue and I hope to report some more success stories in next weeks' newsletter.
