PTA Corner

We are celebrating another busy, successful week in the PTA corner during which we have had two events:

Volunteer meeting

We welcomed over 60 parents to the IB canteen; we were delighted to welcome so many new parent ambassadors and to see so many familiar faces returning.

We firstly wanted to say a huge big “thank you”, and Alun Yorath was kind enough to drop in and remind us all how much our work is appreciated - work that includes:

  • Supporting new arrivals

“Our class friends have been invaluable in helping our children settle at school, they helped our children develop friendships by supporting us to arrange playdates with other parents.”

“Our country representative is very helpful, it was a great way to get to know my peers and help us integrate.”

  • Supporting school staff

“As teaching staff we are really grateful for all the things the PTA does with regards to activities in and out of the class room.  You make us feel appreciated.”

  • Sharing information

“..my class friend gives me a highly effective informal network link into school.  It’s much easier to approach a class friend for smaller issues or clarifications rather than bothering the teachers.”

  • Organising and supporting school events
  • Charitable work

We took the opportunity to break out into our working groups.

  • Charities
  • Secondary representatives
  • Limanowskiego class friends
  • International country representatives
  • Events

The groups took time to get to know each other and to discuss and agree their plans for the next year.  We look forward to sharing details of this work in future newsletters.

Thank you again to all our volunteers for the work you do all year round and for being part of Tuesday’s events.

If you missed the meeting and would still like to join us, it is never too late to get involved, please Contact Us.

PTA at table Sept

Secondary Coffee Morning

It was great to have around 30 parents joining us for our first secondary coffee morning. Alison Fox and Alun Yorath joined us for an interactive session on ‘Our School System’, which generated lots of discussion on a wide range of topics from primary/secondary transition to the IB programme.

It was a great opportunity to meet other secondary parents and find out more about Key stage 3, 4 and 5 (years 7 – 13).

Our next Secondary Coffee Morning is 9th October.  If you have any suggestions for future discussion topics, please contact us.

Thank you to everybody who attended and to Alison & Alun for such an interesting morning.

PTA Morning Sept

Dabrowskiego

We are really looking forward to getting up and running in Dabrowskiego. After a quiet start we are holding our first event next week, the PTA Social & Info Morning in the Dab P.E. Hall Tuesday 25th September 9:00am to 10:30am.

Please join us for refreshments, a second-hand uniform sale, and an English book swap. Meet members of the PTA, learn about volunteer opportunities and socialize with other parents. We hope to see you there!!

Fond farewells

It is with great sadness that we announce that two of our committee members are stepping down.

Kasia Gleeson has been Treasurer to the PTA for a number of years, and her love of order and spreadsheets has kept us on the financial straight and narrow.  Good luck with your new job Kasia, someone else will be benefiting from your love of financial order and spreadsheets, we’ll miss you very much.

Louise Thorpe has been Class Friends Coordinator for the past year.  Louise took on the role after only a year at the school and has been a great support to all of our class friends.  Louise is passionate about the role of the PTA in providing fun, extra curricular activities for the kids and was the main organiser of our Year 5 and 6 disco.  Louise has also returned to paid employment, but her love of a good party means that she remains a committed class friend and will remain involved in organising the school disco and the year 6 graduation.

Thank you Kasia and Louise for all your hard work and good luck with your new jobs.

Facebook page

Finally, could I just remind you follow and like our Facebook page at TBS Warsaw PTA?  It’s a great way to find out about things going on at school and there are discussion areas for you to chat with other parents. From the main page, you can join one of our closed parent groups. Each week the PTA notice board  will be posted in these closed groups. Click here for the EY and Primary group and click here for the Secondary group.

We look forward to seeing you there.
