This week we are pleased to meet Stephen Collyer, Year 2 Teacher.

Stephen Collyer

Where are you from originally?

I am British and was born and grew up in the beautiful county of Derbyshire in the East Midlands of England.

Have you lived in any other countries?

I have lived in the United Arab Emirates for two years.

Where and what did you study for your education?

My A-levels were completed at Repton School in Derbyshire. I completed my degree and teaching qualifications at the University of Derby in 1996.

How long have you been at TBS?

Not very long! I began working at TBS in September 2018.

What do you enjoy most about teaching at our school?

I adore my wonderful class of children who are all eager to learn but are also great fun. I enjoy working alongside some great colleagues in Team Year 2!

What are you most looking forward to in the 2018/2019 academic year?

I am excited about continuing the learning journey with my class but am beyond thrilled to be attending Space Camp in May with Year 5 & 6.

Who's your favourite historical/scientist/literary figure and why? My favourite historical figure is without doubt Winston Churchill - one of the greatest British prime ministers who also led the nation through World War 2. My favourite scientist is Professor Brian Cox. My favourite literary character is Mr Twit from Roald Dahl's book called The Twits - I once dressed up as Mr Twit for World Book Day!

What is your favourite thing about living in Warsaw, Poland?

I enjoy the friendly people I encounter when out and about in Warsaw. Warsaw also provides me with many opportunities to take lots of interesting photographs.

What do you miss most from home?

Tetley decaffeinated tea bags, Cadbury buttons and proper bacon.
