...in support of our anti-bullying week that we have been holding in the school. It was also a good excuse for some to wear outrageous socks!
Student leadership in the IB has gone from strength to strength over the past two years and it is important that students in any part of the school feel that they have a ‘voice’. Our IB student leadership team meet weekly and are currently leading on:
- A sustainability project to make the school more environmentally friendly
- The Year 13 Studniowka event to be held in January 2020
- An IB music recital that will be held later in the year
- The designing and purchasing of the IB graduation hoodies
Student leadership comes in many forms. The skills they learn in managing these large tasks are in many ways just as important as the lessons they attend daily. As teachers it is important we let students learn by their mistakes at times, act as mentors and occasionally help out when it all goes “a bit wrong”. As teachers sometimes we want to step in too early and this does not always help the process.
We are very proud of our student leaders at TBS Warsaw and it is a great lesson for them to learn that they can, with effort, commitment and drive make a tangible and real impact in their school.
