Message from our Head of IBDP

It has been a very busy and rewarding week in the IB.

On Monday, we started the week with a visit from the university admissions teams of UCL, Imperial, Kings, LSE and Lancaster universities. They give a very informative presentation on the similarities and differences of their own universities and also gave the Year 12 students additional impetus to start to really consider their university choices.

On Tuesday Mr Prokic, Mrs Mroczkowska and I were fortunate to start the interview process to appoint the next IB Student Leadership team. All those interviewed were incredibly well-prepared and showed genuine poise and clarity of thought. This process will continue into next week and we hope to make final appointments early December. Well done to all involved.

On Wednesday, we had some Pre-IB and IB students who donated their hair to an organisation that makes wigs for children with cancer and other such illnesses. This act of selflessness by our students is very much indicative of the desire within the school to help others, and I am sure that their donations will go a long way to make a positive impression on someone else’s life.

On Thursday the Year 13’s had their first Studniowka rehearsal in preparation for their Studniowka in Jan 2020. It was an hour of “serious fun’. The TBS Studniowka is a wonderful Polish tradition that is very much central to our school’s cultural identity. I look forward to seeing Mr Ormanczyk get them into shape in the coming weeks.

Today, Friday we further discussed in assembly the Nord Anglia “Judicial Activism” initiative that is open to all IB students. We will be holding an ideas workshop next Tuesday at 10:40am and asking all attend in their teams. We also had a wonderful guest speaker who discussed aspects of human rights, which sparked some really interesting debate in the room. Truly, the IB Learner Profile in action.

A busy week, but also a very normal week.
