“I see little commercial potential for the Internet for at least ten years.” – also Bill Gates
Thank you to all parents and students who completed the recent survey on digital technology. The number of responses was very high. We are particularly grateful to those who took the time and trouble to give some detailed extra comments in the last question.
We all understand the importance of digital technology in just about every aspect of our lives and education is no exception. Our use of technology certainly enhances the learning experience and frequently it has the potential to transform the opportunities that students have. However, having more or better machinery does not, of itself, automatically lead to greater academic success. How and when it is used by teachers and students is the key to success.
Predicting the future in relation to technology is fraught with difficulties (hence the second quote from Bill Gates above), but as we plan for further integration of technology in the school, the focus is on the extent to which it improves the learning and students’ progress, not on using the latest gimmick just for the sake of it.
