War declared by English and Computer Science departments!!

But it’s not what you think!  Earlier this term, the two departments arranged to demonstrate how skills developed in one subject can (and should) be applied in other subjects.

As Year 9 students have been studying the Language of Warfare in English it made perfect sense to use this learning and apply it in Computer Science: Year 9s have begun learning how to create 3D models with Magicka Voxel.  Their newly developing technical skills have been used to create products relating to war and included guns, tanks, an aircraft carrier, war torn cities and a war memorial.

The results have been amazing and a number of models and sample texts can be seen on display outside Room 134 in the English Corridor.  The real value however has been in seeing students really engaging with the process and realising how easily they can link their learning- relating ideas from one (or more) subject to another.
