The Other Side of IB and More

Last week I had the pleasure of hosting a coffee morning with members of the school community to talk about the IB Learner Profile and what is known as the IB Core.

IB DP circle

The IB Core - Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Extended Essay (EE) and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) and the IB Learner profile is what makes the IB Diploma programme unique. It places a genuine emphasis on developing a set of skills that are fundamentally required at post-18 level education.

As part of this presentation I discussed the impact that Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) projects can have on a school, and allow our IB students to have a very positive impact beyond their IBDP academic programme. Those in attendance were surprised to learn that some recent large school events were, in fact, CAS projects. These included:

  • Studniowka
  • Warsaw Mission charity rock concert
  • TBS Science Far
  • Day of 1st Aid training
  • School Chess tournament

See the presentation attached below.

This week alone we have had two E-sports tournaments held in the IB Learning Center that have raised close to 1000PLN for charity, plus a charity “drive” for hygiene products that will be donated to a local hospice.
