Using fractions of quantities to create perfect pancakes.

On Tuesday  Year 4 Braille and Year 4 Edison spent an afternoon using fractions of quantities as well as instructional language, in order to create and sample perfect pancakes.

As it was 'Pancake Day' students had the promise of pancakes to inspire their continued understand and application of fractions.

Mr Guyler purchased...

1 litre of milk

10 eggs

and 1 kg of flour.

Each batch made 12 pancakes and required

300ml milk

2 eggs

100g flour

Can you work out the fraction of the total he required for each batch?

After successful calculations, students instructed 'Chef - Fraction Frankie' how to create the mix using estimation.

The results were delicious and students went home with their appetites satisfied, yet hungry for further fun fractions.
