A few months before leaving, everyone had to fundraise, which was then sent off to Tanzania to buy our tools and supplies. However, the real start was two weeks ago when we arrived in the Lake Natron campsite after a very long journey.
Each day consisted of project work in the morning – such as gardening, mixing cement and painting, while the afternoons were filled with playing cards, visiting the waterfall and even more work.
All the activities were done in groups, where we got a chance to bond with students from other Nord Anglia schools.
One of the most fulfilling moments was playing with the local school kids and seeing who all this work was for.
After many sunrises in the morning and a long trip on the last day around Lake Natron, we felt like the week had gone by way too quickly.
On the way back, after staying a night longer in Amsterdam, we finally made it home safely. It was a week full of new adventures!
