The Circus CAME to town! what do you think?

In the end, pandemic or no pandemic, the children in Year 2 managed to celebrate their Exit Point for "The Circus is Coming to Town" IPC Milepost 1 unit with a fabulous CIRCUS performance!

They made tickets and posters, invited each other (staying safe in our year group bubble of course and outdoors as well) and practiced their skills all week.

To prepare for the Exit Point after six whole weeks of learning about the history of circuses, the maps/plans of circuses (geography), which materials are best for a circus tent (science), which artists painted circuses (art) and about ethics in circuses (international), it was time for P.E. and ICT!

P.E. lessons were augmented with a special guest performance from Mr Kevin Halpin from our staff who became Kev the Clown and taught the children how to juggle, walk the tightrope and become strong men/women for the event. In ICT, each class created their own logos and tickets for their circuses!

Finally, on Thursday the children came to school dressed as clowns, magicians, ringmasters, animals, tightrope walkers and acrobats and generally in very colourful attire. It was a wonderful penultimate day for the Year 2s at school this half term! Special thanks to Mr Halpin and Miss Perry who organised the onsite circus school for the children on Monday!
