We are pleased to hand over to the students this week in GeogBlog to get their views on the important theme of collaboration in Geography. Here are two top entries from students in Year 10:
“As we all know, collaboration is crucial for many aspects of our life nowadays.
To describe what it is, we must start by understanding what collaboration means. It is a group of people who work together in order to achieve or create the same thing.
In year 10, we started the topic of Population and Settlement. We work on questions, presentation, or sometimes we brainstorm our knowledge about a particular topic as a whole class. It helps us widen our views as we listen to different opinions, as everyone interprets the topic differently.
Collaboration will help us become a better global citizen because it brings different people together. We can expand our knowledge, gain different skills which include listening to others and compromise.
Being able to collaborate with others is especially important nowadays because that will help us overcome global problems. Right now, I am running an international platform where teens can discuss global problems. Our first meeting was a discussion about Climate Change. We got to listen to an IGCSE student from Dhaka in Bangladesh. She was describing how Global Warming influenced her country. We learned that there have been more floods occurring in recent years and that this has influenced the number of emigrants in Bangladesh.
In my opinion, collaboration is crucial in becoming a global citizen as it widens our views and knowledge by learning from people from different backgrounds.”
