Message from Our Principal

I hope you all had a safe and restful holiday.

Sue Hill

A tale of two campuses this week! For our Early Years and Year 1 children, life at the Dab Campus continued much the same with school open for all year groups. On our Lim campus however, the picture was quite different. Three of our year groups, Year 2 to Year 4, arrived on Monday morning for what we hoped would be a for a number of weeks face-to-face learning. Unfortunately, this hope has been short-lived and from next week, Year 2 to 4 will join the rest of our Lim campus for our virtual school provision, in accordance with the directive from the government.

In summary, next week will be as follows:

Pre Nursery to Year 1: All children in school at the Dab Campus

Year 2 to Year 13: All children studying via our Virtual School from home.

We did have chance to implement our COVID testing programme for students on their return to school after the holidays. Year 2, 3 and 4 were tested on entry on Monday and I’m pleased to report that only one student tested positive. Today, it was the turn for our Year 1 children and no positive cases found. All our staff were also tested this week; one teaching assistant was found to be positive however all teachers were negative. As yet, we haven’t found any evidence to suggest that transmission of the virus has happened within our school campus and we will continue with all of our hygiene procedures put in place.

Mrs Prabhu and Mrs Fox are working hard with teachers to ensure the high quality of learning continues through our virtual provision. We endeavour to provide the very best programme for children whilst they are unable to be present in person in school and have many creative ideas about how to keep children inspired and active during these times. Mental well-being, as well as learning, will be a focus for us as we know that time away from friends can be challenging too. Please ensure that you contact your child’s class teacher or form tutor if you have any questions about learning in the coming week.

I hope you are all keeping safe and staying positive as these challenging times continue.

Kind regards,

Sue Hill
