... currently delivered by our teachers is a testament to how important the opportunity and obligation of continuing to provide a high-level education to our students is.
Our teachers employ various techniques and methods to deliver this Virtual School Experience but most of them rely on the use of technology: computer, tablet, software such as Microsoft Teams, Microsoft ClassNotebook, spreadsheets and so on. For many years, I have personally relied on the use of a tablet linked to my laptop and the use of SMART technology.
Using this set up, I have been able to maintain active real time interaction with my students while also being allowed to create mathematics videos when needed. I have created many such videos in the past and present in response to students needs. In addition, all notes written during these lessons are exported as a pdf into Firefly, allowing students to revisit the notes and problems discussed in class.
I have also encouraged students to share their writing and solutions using Class Notebook and to create videos themselves. They then share their work with the rest of the team. The use of a tablet is quite useful in teaching and learning mathematics as typing mathematical equations using conventional software is often time consuming and complicated. Please see below some examples of the use of this technology in the teaching and learning of mathematics over the past couple of days.
