For the Year 13s this week in their “Virtual Stand-down” assembly they did just that. It was an extremely positive occasion, given some of the difficulties they are facing and they were keen to share their thoughts on the two years they have had here. One of the great aspects of the virtual classroom is the ability to hand over the control of the session to the assembly, and it was great to be part of an event created by them, hosted by them and for the most part delivered by them.
They have been a super year group, who have left a legacy behind in terms of music, sports, community service and most importantly fun. We miss them being here and hope to be able to open our physical doors to them again, before the summer term is done. They spoke with great affection about their teachers during the assembly, which is another testament to their appreciation of the school.
I must also take my hat off to the Year 12s and Pre-IB students who have fully engaged in the virtual school experience this term. They remain in great spirits and have shown real resilience and an ability to meet key deadlines that were due this week in their Extended Essay. This has not gone unnoticed and kudos to the students, tutor teams and teachers who are continuing together to make this a very positive experience.
Have a great Easter, stay safe and well, and keep washing your hands.
