Last Friday Year 10 students were able to show off their culinary skills when they participated in a muffin making life skills assembly.

It was great to see so many students getting in the kitchen and literally getting their hands dirty baking muffins.

Many showed great initiative by "tweaking" the recipe and creating their own masterpieces.

Please see some of the great finished products attached and also the recipe so you can make these simple muffins at home with your own families.

Loaf/Muffin Recipe

3 bananas (mashed) or equivalent fruit (I like canned peaches)

3/4 cup (156g) white sugar

1 egg slightly beaten

1/3 cup (app 80 ml) of melted butter (or vegetable oil)

1 1/2 (app 240 g) cups flour

1tsp baking soda

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

Use a nonstick muffin or loaf pan (or grease lightly with oil)

Preheat oven to 180

Bake for app 20 minutes (you can insert a table knife in the middle and if it comes out clean they are done (smile)

*You can add blueberries, chocolate chips, dates nuts etc. as you like (smile)
