We had worked so hard as a teacher team to plan and prepare for the return of the students and it was wonderful to welcome them all back on campus that morning. So, all in all it has been a very good week. As you know, the students are zoned as far as possible into Year group bubbles and this is where they mainly stay, play and learn. After some adjustment, they are now getting used to the room changes and where they need to be for each lesson and it is testament to their resilience and adaptability that they have managed to do this so quickly… as I write this it’s only 4 days in.
Our enhanced off-campus learning option, Classroom Connect has also been launched this week with several students accessing from home for a variety of reasons. I would just like to point out that these lessons are not always live, online lessons however, students should always be able to access the learning resources and tasks from Firefly and may, in some lessons, be able to join virtually through MS Teams.
Congratulations!
It would be remiss of me not to mention all our examination students who were awarded their grades over the summer holidays. It was a particularly challenging and unprecedented year but we are delighted with their achievements and the resilience and adaptability they showed.
IGCCE:
96% A*-C grades
63% A* & A grades
37% of our students gained 8 A*-A grades – a common requirement for successful applications to Oxford and Cambridge.
IBDP:
34 point score average
High point score of 44
Average subject score of 5.4 (highest is a 7)
Finally, whilst we have said a welcome back to all our students, I wanted to take a moment to specially welcome all our new students and families as well as our new staff members. We all know what it feels like to join a new environment; ours is a busy and vibrant one and we are delighted to welcome everyone into our community.
Have a lovely weekend,
Alison Fox
