    Michael Bardsley

    Principal

    Michael Bardsley

    Michael graduated from Manchester in 1993, studying Psychology (BSc) before moving on to Leeds to complete a PGCE in ICT. He was Head of ICT in York for nine years where he met his wife Nathalie before moving to Harrow International School in Thailand as Head of House.  In 2010, Michael and his family moved to the Netherlands, joining the British School in Amsterdam as Secondary School Headteacher.

    Head of Kamýk Campus

    Paul Baker

    Paul qualified from Oxford University in 1999. He taught in a primary school just outside Oxford for four years before moving to Prague in 2003. Initially Paul worked within the school as a Year 2 teacher, then Deputy Head before being appointed Head of Primary at Kamyk. Paul was appointed Head of PBIS Kamyk Campus in 2017. Paul enjoys running to keep fit and is a passionate Liverpool Football and Wigan Rugby League supporter.  Paul has three energetic sons who keep him entertained during his free time.

    Deputy Head: Early Years

    Alexander Harrison

    Alex is originally from near Lancaster in the North West of England. After studying Geography at Manchester University, he spent several years travelling and working in many different jobs – from fruit picking to property management. While running youth football tournaments in the USA, he realised he wanted to teach. He completed a PGCE at Northumbria University and taught for two years in Newcastle before moving to the Middle East where he was a founding staff member for a British Prep school. Over the course of seven years in the profession he has taught from Nursery to Year 6.After meeting his wife Alexandra they returned to the greenery of Europe to live in Prague. Together they have two daughters who are in school. In his spare time Alex enjoys renovating the family home, gardening, cooking and reading. Whenever there’s any time left over from everything else, he also loves to run.

    Deputy Head: Years 1 - 3

    Matthew Whitten

    Matthew started his teaching career as an EAL specialist teacher in the US and abroad. Since studying to become a Primary teacher in his home state of Virginia, he has had a rich experience class teaching in dual-language and English National Curriculum programmes. In 2014, he completed a M.Ed in curriculum and instruction at George Mason University, focusing on international education. He has been at the school for nearly 11 years, teaching in both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. He also served as the International Primary Curriculum co-ordinator for several years until he became the Deputy Head. He and his wife are also proud parents of two sons.

    Timothy Bottomley

    Tim graduated from Oxford Brookes University in 2009. After spending time in Mexico teaching English as a Foreign Language, he realised teaching was his calling and returned to the UK to begin his career as a primary school teacher. He taught for 3 years in the South West of England where he grew up, before moving to Prague in 2015. He fell in love with Prague and now considers the city his home. He is currently Deputy Head (Years 4-6). Outside of school, Tim is sport mad; he enjoys watching all sports and competing in football, cycling, swimming and golf.

    Petra O'Leary

    Head of ČBZŠ / Head of Czech Programme

    Petra O'Leary

    Having graduated from Charles University, Petra gained her precious life experiences in international companies, thanks to which she had opportunities to visit various countries all over the world. Petra speaks several languages fluently. She familiarised herself with the British curriculum at Riverside School. In 2001 she joined BISP, as an EAL teacher and soon developed the “Czech Programme”. In 2004 Petra successfully prepared the opening of the bilingual school (Česko Britská Základní Škola), which has been met with growing interest from the Czech public. Petra likes travelling. Her favourite activities also include sport; in particular artistic gymnastics.

    Hana Pfeiferova

    Deputy Head: Czech British School & Year 6CZ Teacher

    Hana Pfeiferova

    Hana graduated from the Faculty of Education, Charles University in Prague. Her specialisation is in Primary education and special needs – speech therapy. She is currently completing studies in History for senior schools at Charles University in Prague. Hana joined the Prague British School in 2007, when she started as a primary teacher at CBZS. She lived in Surrey, UK, where she studied and worked as a primary school teacher's assistant. Before her stay in the UK, she worked as a teacher at several language primary schools. During her studies, and even now, she promotes modern teaching methods and occupies herself with the issues of assessment and self-assessment of pupils at school. Her diploma thesis and research on this topic were included in research projects held in EU member states. Some of her works were also published in a college textbook for teaching students entitled the Workbook of General Didactics. She loves traveling around the world, running, cycling, skiing, reading books, the arts and history.

    Eliška Strnadova

    Eliška originates from Prague and has worked at the school since February 2005. She spent most of her time within the school working with the youngest children before being appointed Head of Early Years in 2015. 
    She holds a Bachelors and Masters degree in Special Education, and a PGCE and Masters in International Education. In her spare time she enjoys playing beach volleyball, attending cultural and foodie events, and traveling. Eliška's dream is to visit as many beautiful places as possible including all the European capitals!
