Primary School Sports

It has been a busy and exciting week for the Primary children.  Across the weeknd our teams were involved in football, cross country running and swimming.  It is a great time to be at STA with so many new exciting opportunities for our children.

Basketball

Our boys and girls continue on their unbeaten run.  The boys have their final fixture next Thursday at STA, against Bangkok PREP.  Whoever wins, wins the TISAC league.  Please feel free to come and cheer the boys on, your support is always welcome.  The girls continue to grow in confidence and are playing some great basketball for their age group.

Football

On Saturday we had the Shrewsbury Football Cup with all of our Primary teams taking part.  These tournaments are great preparation for our team’s performing at the Harrow Cup and Phuket 7s Tournaments. Our U9 Boys came 1st place and are looking impressive this year winning the tournament without conceding  a goal. The U11 Boys showed lots of progress after a poor start, eventually finishing joint first place. The U11 Girls are also looking very strong and after dominating the tournament they were unlucky to finish 2nd place. The U9 Girls finished 3rd in their tournament and the girls who had their first experience of competitive football should be very proud of themselves.

Swimming

On Saturday our Mini Marlins were competing in the Tiger Prawns Meet at  Bangkok Patana.  All our children had a great time with some encouraging performances from our young swimmers. Our Marlin swimmers can now look forward to another big event next weekend at the NIST Falcon Swim Meet.

Cross Country

On Sunday we had our first ever BISAC Invitational Cross Country Meet at the Unico Grande Golf Course.  We had over 20 children from the Primary School involved in a team event which took into account the times of the 4 fastest runners from each school. Our Girls U11 team claimed 1st place, with some outstanding running from Gina, Sarah, Opal, Pearie and Nana. Our Boys U11 team came 3rd place, with some strong running from Denzel, Gorn, Naoki, Clarence and Beam. Thank you to all the parents that came to support and the children that ran for the Primary STA running team.

High School Sports

Our busiest ever weekend

We’ve just finished an amazing weekend of sport across St. Andrews, with students involved in the Senior Basketball TISAC Tournament, the BISAC Cross Country, a U13 Tennis friendly, the Tiger Prawns Meet, the Shrewsbury Primary Football and of course, our usual Saturday Basketball and Football training.

We’re working on ways to provide opportunities for as many people in our community to be active as possible and to develop an STA culture of health and fitness. If you come to PE lessons, you’ll see a wide variety of experiences, with students engaged in developing their interest in physical activity and thinking and talking about sport. Our programme now also includes more parent sessions, with volleyball, swimming, fitness and yoga, and we’re looking forward to our next STA Community Sports Day on 18th November.

Cross Country

We entered our first BISAC Cross Country on Sunday morning at Unico Grande Golf Course. Our U13 Boys and Girls placed well, with Marco taking the overall win, completing the 2.6km course in 9:58. The Boys finished in 2nd place and the Girls in 4th.

We also had some U15s and a JV runner take part who did well individually, though we were unable to place in the team event as we didn’t take a full team.

Mr. Angelo will continue to work on building our runners into strong athletes like himself and we look forward to the next event.

Senior Boys Basketball

The SNR B did well at their TISAC Tournament on Saturday, going 5 and 0 before losing in what was effectively the final to take the runners-up spot.

They are a skillful team who have developed a real love for the game, and their spirit is captured well in the photo below.

STA Community Sports Day

On Saturday, 18th November, we’ll have our second Community Sports Day, open to all of our parents, staff and alumni. We are starting to prepare for this now with our PTG, who will provide food for the event.

The day will be held at High School, with volleyball, football and badminton on offer, as well a free swim and table tennis for the kids.

Soon we will ask you to sign up - please look out for an email in the next week or so.
