The Primary School Library welcomes Ms Kerry and outlines exciting plans to encourage a love of reading in our children.
Welcome back everyone and welcome Ms Kerry.
We hope you all had an amazing holiday and are feeling refreshed, ready to start the new school year. Ms Astrid will be a hard act to follow but Ms Kerry is looking forward to meeting you all and continuing with our mission to encourage your child’s love of reading. We have lots of new and exciting books to tempt all our year groups to explore new authors and genres AND will be planning some fun activities for children and parents starting off with our Parents’ Coffee Morning with date to be confirmed next week.
Look out for our ‘New Arrivals’ displays in and outside the Library and please do ask us if you’re not sure which ones are best for your child’s level.
It was difficult to choose just four books this week from all of our new stock but here they are:
We will be continuing with our very popular Reading Challenge this year where we challenge children in Years 1 to 6 to read, read and read some more while we wait to discover who will become our next Super Reader! Children will receive a special Reading Chart and Bookmark collecting stars for each book they read and when they have six stars they will move up to the next level. This should be quite easy this term with so many exciting new books to choose from.
We also encourage the children to love books and love our Library as much as we do to become Library Monitors. We will have forms available for boys and girls in Years 4 to 6 from next Monday 27 August so please ask them to come in for more information and to collect a form if they would like to help us and their friends in the Library. We will also be talking to the children about this during the coming week.
At St Andrews Bangkok, we believe that every student deserves to feel seen, valued, and included both inside and outside the classroom. That’s why we are incredibly proud to introduce the Friendship Benches project, an initiative designed to foster connection, kindness, and community spirit across the school.
From 25th May to 27th May, St Andrews International School Bangkok proudly hosted the 2025 Nord Anglia SEA STEAM Festival. Students from across Southeast Asia came together for three inspiring days of creativity, collaboration, and real-world problem-solving. This year’s big question: “How can we reduce or repurpose school waste to create a lasting impact in our communities and environment?”
From cultural celebrations and hands-on STEAM challenges to expert talks and a final showcase of student-led projects, the festival was a true celebration of innovation and sustainability.
NAE Global Campus received a staggering 3,300 entries from 66 Nord Anglia schools all around the world, and one student from STA shone bright, winning Best in Show in the Art Music category: a big congratulations to Freya in Year 8 for her truly outstanding achievement and stellar performance!
