Still Looking for the Right School Place This September?
We hope you’ve had a refreshing holiday and are raring to go – just as we are at the PTG! The blank canvas of a new school year feels like a perfect opportunity to introduce ourselves to new parents.

First, our mission, as defined in our Constitution: to work together for the common good of our student body, and to foster goodwill and clear communication among parents, teachers, and students. As a parent, you are automatically a member of the PTG as soon as you join the school. The PTG is managed and represented by the PTG Committee, which is elected at the end of every school year at the AGM. The Committee currently consists of three Officers (Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary) and nine other members. A wide range of school years is represented on the Committee, from Primary through High School, ensuring that diverse interests are taken into account.
Please see the photo and the caption above to put faces to names of your 12 PTG representatives for 2019/20!
The PTG Committee is a group of volunteers that works hard to make crucial events happen throughout the school year, including the International Days and Christmas Fairs on both campuses, Fun Day, and the end-of-year Summer Party. But we are not just ParTyorGanizers!
We aim to strengthen relationships and facilitate communication between parents and school. We facilitate opportunities for students and school to meet their fundraising objectives. We assist the integration of new families to the school. We manage the lost-and-found as well as the collection and sales of second-hand uniforms.
Also, by putting in place a wide selection of different parent sports and other activities, the PTG has contributed significantly to building a strong community of parents across the two campuses. And, importantly – what sometimes goes unnoticed is that PTG Committee members work tirelessly behind the scenes, with parents and with school, to resolve issues that may crop up.
An important forum enabling parents and school to communicate are the PTG meetings, of which we hold at least one per term. We strongly encourage parents to attend these meetings and to submit their topics for the agenda in advance. The Head of School attends each meeting, and other teaching staff may be requested to attend, as necessary.
A first PTG meeting will be held soon – you will be informed of the date and invited to submit your topics.
The PTG has a Facebook group where you can find lots of useful information about St Andrews International School Bangkok as well as getting used to living in Bangkok if you are new to the city. If you would like to contact us about something specific, please don’t hesitate to get in touch by email on ptgchair@standrews.ac.th. Wondering who the Committee members are? Put faces to names by checking the school website or the PTG section of Moodle, which also contains our Constitution.
Are you a new student at St Andrews International School Bangkok looking to dip your toes into the world of swimming? Or perhaps you are a current student who has always wanted to improve your skills in the pool? Then there is no better time than now to join the STA Marlins Swimming Squad. The Marlins Recreational Group is our latest swimming programme, welcoming all beginners on Tuesdays after school.
At St Andrews Bangkok, we believe that every child has the potential to discover and develop a unique musical voice. Our Instrumental Programme offers students an extraordinary opportunity to explore and master a range of musical instruments, fostering a lifelong love for music and enhancing their cognitive and creative development.
Students enjoy having their own device which they can personalise and which is always available. In response to concerns around bag weight and battery life, we extended the range of devices that students were able to bring to school.
As Term 3 comes to an end, three senior students, Eleonore, Natalie, and Ananya, reflect on their experiences in the IB Diploma Programme at St Andrews International School Bangkok. Perhaps one of the most meaningful projects Ananya and Natalie took on during their senior studies was starting a foundation with a few other friends called Today4tomorrow – an initiative to provide opportunities to underprivileged girls in Thailand.
