On Wednesday 27th September 2023, Year 11 IGCSE Drama students unveiled their Scripted Performances to a live audience of Year 9s, with five excellent pieces of Drama performed. Students used a stimulus as a starting point and developed 15 minute performances based around the idea.

The planning, creative process and performance was independently completed by the students and the final outcome was absolutely amazing from all five groups. Each devised exam piece is worth 20% of their final mark and they have one more practical exam to complete which will then make up 60% of their overall IGCSE grade.

Performing in front of a live audience holds an immense importance as it provides students with a unique opportunity to gain real-life experience. This helps students develop skills in communication, self-expression, and stage presence, ultimately boosting their confidence and creativity. Engaging with a live audience also teaches students the significance of teamwork and adaptability, enriching their overall education and preparing them for future challenges in both the arts and beyond.

As for the Year 9 audience, Ms Alex (Drama teacher and Head of High School Drama) said "they have now seen what IGCSE Drama is all about", which will help them make informed decisions when they start to make their (I)GCSE Option Choices after the half-term.

IGCSE at St Andrews Bangkok and how do the IGCSE option blocks work for Years 10 and 11?

At St Andrews Bangkok, students have the opportunity to choose from a vast selection of IGCSE options, enabling them to forge their own academic path to success, pursue their passions. The IGCSE is a world-renowned two-year international programme studied in Years 10 and 11 (Ages 14-16). Students who take on an IGCSE subject will benefit from an IGCSE qualification. These are recognised by universities globally and can even support your child with their future job applications.

Our purpose-built IGCSE programme is meticulously created to be adapted for your child by your child. Our curriculum options evolve every year according to what our students want to study. We survey and ask our students to choose from an extensive range of 30+ subjects. We then build a curriculum around their selected pathways.

We call this personalised selection process the 'Student Chosen Pathway (SCP)'. This enables your child to study what interests them most and provides more opportunities that they would not find anywhere else.
