At St Andrews Bangkok, we believe that every student deserves to feel seen, valued, and included both inside and outside the classroom. That’s why we are incredibly proud to introduce the Friendship Benches project, an initiative designed to foster connection, kindness, and community spirit across the school.
The purpose of the Friendship Bench is simple but powerful. These benches are designed to be a visible, welcoming space where students can sit if they are feeling lonely, left out, or unsure of who to play with. The bench serves as a signal to students as an invitation to reach out, offer friendship, and include someone in their activities. By encouraging students to look out for one another, the benches promote empathy and understanding.
Once completed, the benches will be placed in key areas around the school grounds. Their bright, student-created designs will serve as a daily reminder of the importance of kindness and the impact that even small gestures can have on someone’s day.
The Primary School student council led the design competition and shared what the expectations are for the Friendship benches. It was great to see student leadership in action!
Overwhelmed by the creativity and care shown in the entries from over 50 students from across the school, submitting fantastic designs and ideas, four finalists were chosen, and these are the winning designs:
These beautiful, bright benches came to life with the joint effort of staff and students, especially for the small handprints in one of the designs, and every artist signed the back of their bench.
This project would not have been possible without the enthusiasm and collaboration of our student body. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who took the time to submit a design, share an idea, or help paint.
The Friendship Benches are more than just a creative project; they are a reflection of the important values embedded in our community.
From 25th May to 27th May, St Andrews International School Bangkok proudly hosted the 2025 Nord Anglia SEA STEAM Festival. Students from across Southeast Asia came together for three inspiring days of creativity, collaboration, and real-world problem-solving. This year’s big question: “How can we reduce or repurpose school waste to create a lasting impact in our communities and environment?”
From cultural celebrations and hands-on STEAM challenges to expert talks and a final showcase of student-led projects, the festival was a true celebration of innovation and sustainability.
NAE Global Campus received a staggering 3,300 entries from 66 Nord Anglia schools all around the world, and one student from STA shone bright, winning Best in Show in the Art Music category: a big congratulations to Freya in Year 8 for her truly outstanding achievement and stellar performance!
High School Design and Technology students step outside the classroom to explore design and architecture in Bangkok. Year 8 students visited a uniquely designed café precinct, where they learned from the architect of the precinct himself how thoughtful use of materials, geometry, and landscaping can transform spaces. Meanwhile, Year 12 IB students explored the fusion of modern technology and traditional craftsmanship and the use of natural materials at the impressive studio of renowned Thailand-based architect Patrick Keane.
