Since 2023, our Japanese Dance ECA has been coached online by the world‑renowned Requios, a performing arts group based in northern Okinawa and masters of the traditional Eisa and Shishimai dance. After two years of learning remotely via video, our students finally met their mentors in person this February and performed alongside them on the grand stage at Japan Expo Thailand 2026.

Welcoming Okinawa-based performing arts group Requios to Primary School

We were very fortunate to welcome Requios to Primary School for an Eisa performance. Our Year 6 Japanese students also stepped up as hosts, introducing the Eisa and Shishimai performances and sharing their cultural history.

Students perform at Japan Expo Thailand 2026

The Japanese Dance ECA students had intense rehearsals ahead of their two‑day performance with Requios at CentralWorld. Their set included Nagi, Shishi, Toshi, Street of the Soran, and a grand finale of Sagaribana. The energy continued on the second day with high‑intensity Eisa performances featuring Nagi, Shohei, Uchijyo, and Shihinogotoku, all met with tremendous enthusiasm from the audience.

Requios also held a special workshop introducing students to brand‑new choreography, passing on the next generation of Eisa traditions. Our students expressed their gratitude with wonderful thank‑you cards.
