St Andrews Bangkok celebrates the graduation of our very first International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP) student in the Class of 2025. Harry, a passionate and driven young learner with a keen interest in hospitality and the service industry, has completed the IBCP, paving the way for future students to follow in his footsteps.
The IBCP is tailored for students like Harry who want to connect their education with real-world careers. By selecting the BTEC International Diploma in Travel and Tourism as his career-related study, Harry immersed himself in topics ranging from event management and customer experience to global travel trends. Alongside his BTEC studies, he completed IB subjects in Enterprise and Geography and the IBCP core components—Personal and Professional Skills, the Reflective Project, Service Learning, and Language Development—gaining valuable insight into the skills and mindset needed for success in both higher education and the working world.
One of the standout features of Harry’s IBCP experience was the chance to engage in work experience one day per week. Harry’s interest in hospitality and the service industry led him to gain experience working in the office as well as on the operations side of getfresh at K-Village, a popular cafe in Bangkok.
“Not only was I able to network with people and make new friends, I was able to understand if this is the direction I want to go in the future and what exactly I want to do in [the hospitality industry in the future,” says Harry.
The combination of classroom learning and practical experience gave Harry a solid foundation for his future and an impressive resume to match. Harry is a shining example of the power of personalised learning pathways offered at St Andrews.
